In 2018-19, Santa Rosa City Schools began the Music Blitz program. Every sixth grader at our nine elementary schools received instrumental music lessons for one hour a week, during the school day. The students borrowed their instrument for the entire year, and took it home to practice. In 2019-20, the program will expand to 4th, 5th and 6th grades. The program is so successful and unique, producers of the PBS show "Inside California Education" stopped by one elementary school to take a look. The story originally aired on KVIE-TV in Sacramento on May 1, 2019, and then was shared with other PBS TV stations throughout the state.
