“Tragedy pulls people together,” said Dr. Diann Kitamura, superintendent of Santa Rosa City Schools. It also tests resilience, determination, strength and leadership skills. For Dr. Kitamura, many of the leadership skills she used during and after the October 2017 fires that devastated Sonoma County were developed by the Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership program at Brandman University.
The University profiled Superintendent Kitamura, before she received her doctorate in education, in this Sept. 2018 news article.
