Transfers
Santa Rosa City Schools welcomes students who reside outside of our district and allows students within our district to transfer to a school outside of their neighborhood.
Intra or Inter? What's the difference?
Intra - Intradistrict transfer is a transfer from one school to another school within the same school district.
Inter - Interdistrict transfer is a transfer from one school district to another school district.
At Santa Rosa City Schools, students who live within a particular school zone have enrollment priority in that neighborhood school, and transfer students may be enrolled based on availability of space and acceptance of a transfer application. To determine the schools zoned for your home address, type your address into My School Locator.
Interdistrict Transfer
You can find more information on the SCOE website under Schools & Districts -> Attendance Options.
Standard Inter-District Transfers - This is the most common type of transfer. SRCS specifies the terms and conditions for allowing transfers. Parents can request a particular school, but SRCS makes the final determination. Parents are responsible for providing transportation for a student on an inter-district transfer. If either district denies a transfer request, that decision may be appealed to the Sonoma County Board of Education.

How to complete the Standard Interdistrict Transfer Form:
Parents/Guardians complete the “STEP 1” section of the form. Once completed, the parent/guardian must have their district of residence complete the “STEP 2” section. The form should then be submitted to the district of residence. Once Step 1 and Step 2 have been completed, the district of residence will then submit the form to SRCS. SRCS will complete “STEP 3” and determine if the student will be approved or denied the inter-district transfer.
