Janel Plack is the Program Manager of the preschool program. Janel received her Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Hearing Sciences from University of California, Santa Barbara and her Master of Science in Communicative Disorders from San Francisco State University. She served as a Speech-Language Pathologist for twenty-three years prior to becoming a Program Manager in 2015. Janel remains a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, holds her ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence for Speech-Language Pathologists (CCC-SLP), and holds credentials for Clinical or Rehabilitative Services with Special Class Authorization and for Administrative Services.
Robert Johns is a credentialed School Psychologist and nationally certified by the National Association of School Psychologists. Robert received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Specialist Level Master of Arts in Psychology (School Psychology Specialization) from Humboldt State University. Robert completed his master’s project on best practices in assessment, identification, and intervention of neurodevelopmental disorders and specializes in Autism identification and support.
Joanne Takano Dieckman
Joanne Takano Dieckman is a preschool teacher certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) in the area of Early Childhood through young Adults/Exceptional Needs. Joanne received her Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies and a Master of Arts in Special Education. She holds a Clear Cross-cultural Language and Academic Development Certificate, Clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, and Clear Specialist Instruction in Special Education (Learning and Severely Handicapped) Credential. She has been teaching for over 27 years with a range from preschool to adult programs. Her interest to teach in the field of Special Education has been embedded since a child and continues to be a lifelong goal.
Dana Gordon is a preschool teacher with over 20 years of teaching experience with young children. Dana received her Bachelor of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. After working for approximately five years in foster care in New York City, Dana moved to Oakland California to enroll in the teaching program at San Francisco State University. There she received her Education Specialist Credential and Master of Arts in Early Childhood Special Education. She has been teaching with Santa Rosa City Schools for 15 years.
Natalie Gordon is a preschool teacher with over 10 years experience working in special education. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from Sonoma State University, and is currently earning her Education Specialist Credential at the North Coast School of Education.
Leslie Grimaldo-Dubon is our new Full Inclusion Preschool teacher and is very excited to be part of the preschool family. She has over 10 years of experience working in special education. Her career started working as an aide for Anova where she got inspired to get her teaching credentials multiple subject and education specialist from Dominican University. She also holds a Master degree in education with a strong focus in organizational leadership. She strongly believes in early intervention leads to student success.
Nora Pike received her Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Hearing Sciences at Portland State University. She received her Master of Science, Speech and Language Pathology at Idaho State University. She is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and holds her ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence for Speech-Language Pathologists (CCC-SLP). Nora has five years of experience working with preschool aged children, three of them as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
Peter Lounibos is a bilingual speech and language pathologist. He has been providing speech and language services in Santa Rosa City Schools’ preschool programs for 7 years. Working with children between the ages of 1-5 and their families is Peter’s passion. Before working as a speech pathologist, Peter taught English to adults in a range of settings both here and abroad. He holds a Master’s of Science in Communicative Disorders from San Francisco State University and a Master’s of Arts in English with an Emphasis in Teaching English as a Second Language.
Kate Connor is a speech-language pathologist at the Preschool Speech Program. She received both her Bachelor of Sciences and Master of Sciences degrees in Speech-Language Pathology at University of the Pacific. She is currently in her clinical fellowship year, and is working towards earning her Certificate of Clinical Competence through ASHA. Kate has worked in school and clinical settings for over five years serving children and adults aged 3-25 with varying degrees of special needs.
Carlos Hernandez is an Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Teacher with Santa Rosa City Schools district.
Carolyn Miles is an Occupational Therapist (OT) with Santa Rose City Schools district. She graduated from St. Loyes College of Occupational Therapy, Exeter, U.K. in 1992. She obtained her Certification in Comprehensive Sensory Integration through University of Southern California in 2002; and obtained a Masters degree in Education with a specialty of Autism (children) in 2008 from the University of Birmingham UK. Carolyn has worked in Early intervention and for a large school district before coming to Santa Rosa City schools. Carolyn believes strongly in the effectiveness of a team approach to early intervention.
