President

lfong@srcs.k12.ca.us

A Santa Rosa resident since 1987, two daughters who graduated from Santa Rosa City Schools. B.A. from UC Berkeley, Masters in Education from University of Utah, Education Administrative credential from Sonoma State University.

Employment: A 23 year career as a teacher and a 19 year career as a school administrator.

Special Interests: I am very interested in “how” we “do school” in the 21st century and how practices from other eras still govern much of our daily and annual school practices. This includes how we approach those who are learning and aren’t learning, how we use the resource of time in education, and how we assess student learning. Importantly, this includes how California funds public education and the impact it has on our students’ achievement, educators’ compensation and their working environments. Finally, education is now preschool through grade 14 at the minimum - we need to look at a fuller picture of preparation for our children through young adulthood.
